The First Step to Career

Working with the Kırıkhan District Directorate of National Education, the Australian Embassy funded a STEM workshop for girls affected by the February 2023 earthquakes. This initiative connected students with peers and expert educators and provided high quality science, technology, engineering and maths education. By fostering creativity, problem-solving, and confidence, the program empowered participants to consider future educational and career opportunities in STEM fields. It also created a safe and welcoming environment for young girls to build community and friendship.

 

 

Dried Delicacies: A New Beginning Made by Women in Kahramanmaraş

The Australian Embassy partnered with the Oniki Şubat Social Assistance and Solidarity Foundation to fund a fruit and vegetable drying workshop for women impacted by the February 2023 earthquakes. Through practical training in drying and packaging, participants learnt how to use their traditional skills to develop market-ready products for sale locally and nationally. This initiative created income opportunities, strengthened financial resilience, and promoted social inclusion for women in affected communities.

 

Women’s Health Project - Digital Support from Pregnancy to Birth

In cooperation with the Batman Provincial Directorate of Health, the Australian Embassy funded the establishment of  “Healthy Pregnancy Rooms,” offering sessions on prenatal physical health alongside social and psychological support for local expectant mothers. A dedicated mobile application was also developed to ensure easy access to monitoring and advice, complemented by awareness-raising outreach programs in disadvantaged regions across Batman. By addressing physical, psychological, and social wellbeing, this project supported healthier pregnancies and contributed to reducing birth mortality rates.

 

 

Enterprising Girls Rise with Artificial Intelligence

 Funded by the Australian Embassy, this initiative equipped 3,000 girls with knowledge and practical skills in artificial intelligence and entrepreneurship. Through the “Entrepreneurial Girls Workshop,” participants explored AI concepts, discovered career pathways, and learned how to develop their own business ideas. By fostering creativity, problem-solving, and confidence, the project sparked participants’ interest in technology and encouraged their future participation in STEM fields. The program inspired a generation of innovators who will drive social, economic, and educational progress.

 

 

Strong Youth Without Boundaries Project

Spaces to play, exercise, and thrive are essential for all young people, yet they are often not designed with the needs of people with disabilities in mind. Recognising this, the Australian Embassy partnered with the Soma District Municipality to create an inclusive sports area in Soma National Garden - a secure, accessible space in the heart of the city that allows young people with disabilities to play and participate in sport. This is an investment that will support equal opportunity for people with disabilities in Soma for years to come.

 

 

Barrier-Free Living Support Project

As part of the Barrier-Free Living Support Project, the Australian Embassy supported the independence of individuals with disabilities in Afyonkarahisar by funding expanded home care services and battery-powered mobility support vehicles. These targeted interventions promote accessibility and inclusivity, helping to create a more equitable community for all.

 

 

 Kodluyoruz, We Code STEM Project

Through this project the Australian Embassy helped to restore education and strengthen digital literacy for university students impacted by the February 2023 earthquakes in Malatya, Hatay, Kahramanmaraş, and Adana. The earthquakes disrupted eight universities and left 161,000 students at risk of becoming NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training). The initiative delivered hands-on training in AI, coding, and soft skills aligned with global standards, enabling students to recover academically, innovate, and rebuild community resilience. By promoting ethical AI and digital proficiency, the project supported long-term recovery, advanced gender equality, and boosted economic empowerment in earthquake-affected regions.

 

 

Discover with Technology: Iğdır STEM Workshop

Working with the Iğıdır Provincial Directorate of National Education, the Australian Embassy funded STEM workshops at the Children’s Academy in Iğdır, offering hands-on learning for students in grades 1–8. Equipped with modern tools and guided by trained teachers, the workshops nurtured creativity, problem-solving, and analytical thinking. By promoting gender equality and access to technology, the initiative empowered disadvantaged children and strengthened community engagement.

 

 

Increasing Digital Literacy and Economic Empowerment of Women and Girls Project

With support from the Australian Embassy, this project helped women and girls in rural areas gain digital skills and access new economic opportunities. Participants learned how to bring traditional crafts to e-commerce platforms and received training in digital marketing and social media. By bridging the gap between tradition and technology, the initiative enabled women to earn income, compete in global markets, and play an active role in the digital economy.
