Opening of Australian Visa Application Centres and commencement of biometrics collection in Turkey – 14 October 2016
During October 2016, the Australian Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) will introduce visa application and biometric collection services through Australian Visa Application Centres (AVACs) in Turkey. The AVACs in Ankara, Istanbul and Gaziantep will accept visa applications and collect biometrics. The AVACs, operated by a service delivery partner, VFS Global, will open on the following dates:
Istanbul – Friday, 14 October 2016
Ankara – Tuesday, 18 October 2016
Gaziantep – Thursday, 20 October 2016
From 14 October 2016 biometrics will be collected from visa applicants, regardless of nationality and application lodgement method, who are in Turkey at the time of making a visa application to enter Australia, unless they are excluded or exempted from doing so under Australian Government policy.
Visa applicants who wish to lodge a paper visa application, or who are ineligible to lodge an online visa application, need to make an appointment to lodge their application and provide their biometrics at an AVAC.
Visa applicants who lodge an online application may need to provide their biometrics. If so, they will be sent by email a request letter requiring them to make an appointment to provide their biometrics at an AVAC.
AVACs will charge a service fee for application submission and collection of biometrics.
To make an appointment at an AVAC, for AVAC contact details and for service fee information, please see: http://www.vfsglobal.com/australia/turkey/

Applicants residing in Azerbaijan and Georgia who do not lodge online applications are able to send their applications by courier or mail to the Australian Embassy in Ankara. Applicants in Azerbaijan and Georgia are not required to provide their biometrics.
